I have a new sidekick... and she's 5.
Amielia (Ami for short) is my neighbor and after offering to watch her last Tuesday, she has come over every day since. She tells her mom she is going to play outside and then comes and knocks on our door. I love it, I am not going to lie.
I forget how literal a 5 year old takes everyone, how long they take to eat and how funny they are in general. She has made it a habit of walking in and asking for food too- which is pretty funny and I always give her some (might have to lay down the law with this soon). She even threw out the "I wish I lived here" line yesterday.
Funny Ami-isms:
1) The first night I watched her I cooked her dinner... so I asked her if she was allergic to anything. Her response?! "I am not allergic to anything except pandas" I said Pandas?! She said "ya." I asked how she knew she was allergic to pandas and she responded with an "I don't know, but I know I am" I told her I would not be making her fried panda like I had planned....
2) She thinks Adam and I have separate rooms. Our guest room bed was unmade and she came upstairs and walked past it saying (yelling) "Adam's room is a MESS!!!"
3) We had planned to bake cookies when I watched her but after watching a movie, eating dinner (took her a good 45 mins to eat) and playing Candy Land, we did not have time. So she walks in on Wednesday and says " I thought we could make some cookies" I let her know that I had a lot of work to do and couldn't and she said "That's fine, just get your work done really quick and THEN we will make them" As she sits on our couch to wait for me to get my work done...
4) For some reason she thinks we have really great food. And happened to see what was in our fridge the day before we were watching her for the night. When we were planning what we were going to do together she said "lets watch a movie, make cookies, play candy land and then eat some strawberries.." She had definitely seen the new package of strawberries we had in the fridge. I then asked her if she wanted some strawberries then and sent her home with a few- Cracking up the entire time.
5) Our door and her parents door is probably 15 steps away from each other... we live in an apartment folks. So when she is playing outside she has now started asking to use our restroom and asking me for water when she needs it instead of going home. When I say- why don't you go home to use the restroom? She responds with a polite "no thank you" and I just can't resist her cuteness, so I get her water and she uses our bathroom.
She literally is obsessed with us.
Adam was out of town this weekend and she came over yesterday- asking for food. So we ate some apples together, worked on her letters and numbers, watched Disney Channel (while she played with my hair-heaven) and then worked on a princess puzzle.
We are pretty much BFF's.
